biography

Ask anyone in her family and they'll tell you, Avery Turner was always going to be a star. Cliche as it may sound, she entered the world screaming and commanded attention ever since. The joke between her parents as she grew up was that they had named her aptly, as she was always "a very" anything. Nothing with their little girl was done half way. Her tantrums were dramatic as all could be but her happiness was hugely contagious, and when she found something she liked - dance, singing and little school plays namely - she threw herself into it with abandon.

As would later be told in countless interviews, for Avery it was never a question of how but merely when she would get a big break. When word spread through her theatre group that there was an open audition for a big budget film in the area, she knew she needed to be there. And so she excused herself from her afternoon classes that day (yes, without the permission or knowledge of her parents) and waited in line to meet with the group of producers. The next few weeks were a whirlwind of unexpected events, call backs and meetings and before Avery's parents could truly wrap their minds around what was happening, Avery was plucked from obscurity and offered the opportunity of a lifetime, a role in Pirates of the Caribbean. Though it took some convincing, her parents were hugely supportive, eventually relenting and agreeing to split their time between the Bahamas set and home to allow their only daughter her moment to shine.

For Avery, it became her constant mission to never let that moment wane. From that first role on, she took each meeting and every introduction with vigor, not above using friendships or acquaintences to further her career. She parlayed her experience with Disney into multiple films and a chance introduction to Woody Allen into appearances as well. As word of mouth built about her performances, she began taking more dramatic roles, happy to challenge herself.

Having left the Pirates franchise before the fourth film, Avery had noted a desire to branch out and play new characters, travel to different places. She never considered that she'd do another series of movies. And then the role of Black Widow crossed her desk. She didn't know anything about Marvel, but her brother's excitement at the idea was enough to picque her interest and the fact that Disney had recently acquired Marvel didn't hurt either. Avery signed the dotted line, committing to multiple pictures with the company that had begun her career.

media perception
Avery has always been pinned as a sex symbol, something that was uncomfortable for her when she started, but she has eventually grown to shrug it off or even crack a joke about it. In fact, the media likes to believe she's embraced it more than anything, and her flirty nature does nothing to curb their talk. She's often linked to co-stars and constantly accused of "seducing" men at clubs and events. Those who follow more than just headlines know how generous she is, often working with unicef, and as an actress who is exceedingly kind to fans. In interviews she's honest, sometimes to the point of being blunt, which either comes across as bitchy or simply strong.
